Someone or the other recites dhikr when entering the house. (Sun Hussain)

(2) When leaving the house, recite this dua:

In the name of Allah, I put my trust in Allah, there is no power and no power except in Allah (Tirmidhi Sharif)

 (3) When entering the house, recite this dua:

O Allah, let us guide you to the good and the unproducible.

 Greeting the wife and children etc. in the house. (Abi Dawud)

Some scholars have written that if no one is in the house at that time, one should greet like this 4)

Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah (the strong fortresses) (5)

Before entering the house, one should clearly inform the family members with a knock or the sound of one’s feet or the rustling of one’s clothes, because sometimes the mother, sister, daughter, etc. are sitting in such a state that they feel ashamed and embarrassed if they suddenly arrive. (2) When you leave your house for the Fajr prayer after performing the Sunnah, recite this supplication on the way:

(O Allah, make a light in my heart.) O Allah, give me light (Abu Dawud) (7)

When you go to the door of someone’s house, do not stand in front, but stand to the right or

to the left and say ) Assalamu Alaikum before talking. (Muwatta Imam Malik)

(8) He (peace be upon him) used to do household chores in his house and when the time for prayer came, he would go for prayer. At that time, he would leave all his work and would not have anything to do with his family. This shows that being busy with serving the house and family and doing chores is one of the Sunnahs of the Prophets (peace be upon them) and the way of the righteous. So, one should consider household chores as Sunnah. (9)

When the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) returned from a journey, he would first go to the mosque and pray two rak’ahs (optional) prayers and then sit there to meet people (then go home). (Bukhari Sharif)

(10) The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: When you go to sleep, do not leave a fire in your house, that is, if there is a fire somewhere in the house, put it out. (Bukhari Sharif)

(11) When you return from a long journey after a long time, it is Sunnah not to enter the house suddenly, but to announce your arrival and enter the house after some time. Similarly, if you come late at night, do not enter the house immediately, but it is better to enter the house in the morning (or after informing). However, if the family is aware of your late arrival and they are also waiting for you, then there is no harm in entering the house at that time. (Muslim)

(۱۰) فرمانِ رسول ہے: جب تم سونے لگو تو گھروں میں آگ نہ چھوڑو یعنی گھر میں کسی جگہ آگ ہو تو اس کو بجھا دو ۔ ( بخاری شریف)

(11) جب دور دراز کے سفر سے بہت دنوں بعد واپس لوٹے تو سنت یہ ہے کہ اچانک گھر میں داخل نہ ہو بلکہ اپنے آنے کی خبر کرے اور کچھ دیر بعد گھر میں داخل ہو ۔ ایسے ہی اگر رات گئے دیر سے آئے تو فورا گھر میں نہ جائے بلکہ بہتر یہ ہے کہ صبح کو (یا اطلاع کر کے ) مکان میں جائے۔ البتہ گھر والے تمہارے دیر سے آنے پر آگاہ ہوں اور ان کو تمہارا انتظار بھی ہو تو اس وقت گھر میں داخل ہونے میں کوئی حرج نہیں۔ (مسلم)
