The story of Moses (15th-13th century BCE, the son of Amran and Jochebed [1]) and Pharaoh has been mentioned in the Quran in several places, indicating that such circumstances might happen in the future where the weak community of people will suffer severe conditions, ruled by cruel elements. Nowadays, we see the exact situation that happened to the children of Israel at the time of the Pharaoh of Egypt, demonstrating that for every Pharaoh there should be Moses.
Pharaoh’s Terrifying Dream
Firaun, who had been ruling over both, the Copts & The children of Israel, once had a dream that: “A fire came from Jerusalem and engulfed the houses of Egypt, burning the Copts and leaving the Children of Israel, and burning the houses of Egypt. So, he summoned the magicians, the priests, the soothsayers, and the fortune-tellers, and asked them about his dream. They told him, ‘A man will emerge from this land from which the Children of Israel came (meaning Jerusalem) and whose face will be the destruction of Egypt.’ So, he ordered the Children of Israel that no boy should be born to them without slaughtering him, and no girl should be born to them without leaving her.'” [2]
This fact is also mentioned in the Quran in several places where Allah reminds them of the favor of giving salvation from the cruel action of Pharaoh who would slaughter their newborn boys.
Allah’s Plan & Pharaoh’ Destruction
The time came when the Children of Israel were to get rid of Pharaoh and his army. After their weakest position, Allah bestowed upon them as He intended to upper them after the ending of Copts. Thus, the promise of Allah would be fulfilled as He gives the land in heritage to the righteous people.
The ending of Pharaoh’s power proved through his own hands! Musa reached up to the palace and Pharaoh himself raised him as his future enemy who would destroy the false power of Pharaoh, who used to slaughter every boy out of fear of ending the government. Imam Tabari writes that Pharaoh had issued the order to slaughter the boys for one year and to leave them alive for another year. When the mother of Moses realized the giving of birth to him in the year when boys were to be slaughtered, she felt fear for him. [3]
As Surah Al-Qasas, Verse 7 States:
“And We inspired the mother of Moses, ‘Suckle him, but when you fear for him, cast him into the river and do not fear nor grieve. Indeed, We will return him to you and will make him one of the messengers.'”
Moses’ Upbringing in the House of His Enemy
When Moses’s mother put him in the river, his sister was walking through the shore of the river to see what was done to him. Allah was to dismiss the power of Pharaoh, Moses reached straight to the place and Asiya, the wife of Pharaoh, who picked up that beautiful baby and said: “He is a source of coolness for my eyes and yours”. Pharaoh replied: “For you, I don’t have any need in him”, the prophetﷺ said that if he had said the same as his wife had said, then Allah would have guided him like his wife but He has forbidden that for him. [4]
Pharaoh wanted to kill the boy out of fear, but his wife insisted on leaving him alive and even as a son. On the other side, Moses’s mother was thinking only about her son, it was near that she would reveal the secret but Allah made his heart strong.
The Returning of Musa to his Mother
Allah forbade Nabi Musa to accept wet nurses, so his sister, who saw all the scenes, said, “I will direct you to a household who will take care of him and be sincere for him.” Thus, Allah fulfilled his promise to return her son.
Death Sentence for Ending the Quarrel
Time passed and Musa grew young, Allah gave him wisdom and knowledge. One day he entered the city and found there two persons fighting: one from the Israelites and the other from his enemies. The person from his group called for his help against the other, so he struck him and unintentionally killed him.
Unfortunately, the next day the Israelite had another fight with another person, Musa was to happen that way and found the person calling for his help once again. Muses said to him, “Indeed, you are a heretic”. Then he resolved to strike Copt, but the Israelites, due to his weakness and humiliation, believed that Moses now intended to kill him. [5]
The Israelite revealed the secret, saying, “Do you want to kill me as you have killed a person yesterday?” The case was forwarded to the court and a person, Talut or Shamoun, rushed to him and said the officers want to kill you, so better to run out of this place. [6]
Decision to Leave Egypt
After that, Muses secretly left for Egypt and went straight to Midian, where Prophet Shu’ayb was preaching the message of Allah. On the way to Midian, Moses passed by a well where some people were watering their cattle. He observed that there stood two modest women separate from other people, waiting for their departure. Moses helped them water their shepherd with the strength that Allah had given him. The women were actually the daughters of Shu’ayb, who told the story to his father when got home. Moses was called for and he stated the matter before Shu’ayb. He consoled Moses that there he was safe.
حضرت موسیٰ اور فرعون کی مکمل کہانی قرآن میں
موسیٰ (15 ویں-13 ویں صدی قبل مسیح، عمران اور یوچبید کے بیٹے [1]) اور فرعون کا قصہ قرآن مجید میں متعدد مقامات پر بیان کیا گیا ہے، جو اس بات کی طرف اشارہ کرتا ہے کہ مستقبل میں ایسے حالات پیدا ہو سکتے ہیں جہاں لوگوں کی کمزور جماعت ظالمانہ عناصر کی حکمرانی میں سخت حالات کا شکار ہو گی۔ آج کل ہم وہی صورت حال دیکھتے ہیں جو مصر کے فرعون کے زمانے میں بنی اسرائیل کے ساتھ پیش آئی، اس بات کا ثبوت ہے کہ ہر فرعون کے لیے موسیٰ ہونا چاہیے۔
فرعون کا خوفناک خواب
فرعون جو کہ قبطی اور بنی اسرائیل دونوں پر حکومت کرتا رہا تھا، ایک بار خواب میں آیا کہ: “یروشلم سے آگ آئی اور مصر کے گھروں کو اپنی لپیٹ میں لے لی، قبطیوں کو جلا کر بنی اسرائیل کو چھوڑ کر مصر کے گھروں کو جلا ڈالا، چنانچہ اس نے جادوگروں، کاہنوں، کاہنوں کو بلایا، اور انہوں نے اپنے خوابوں کے بارے میں پوچھا، اور ان سے پوچھا۔ اس نے کہا، ‘اس سرزمین سے ایک شخص نکلے گا جہاں سے بنی اسرائیل آئے تھے (یعنی یروشلم) اور جس کا چہرہ مصر کی تباہی ہو گا۔’ چنانچہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے بنی اسرائیل کو حکم دیا کہ ان کے ہاں کوئی لڑکا اس کو ذبح کیے بغیر پیدا نہ کیا جائے اور کوئی لڑکی اس کو چھوڑے بغیر پیدا نہ ہو۔
اس حقیقت کا تذکرہ قرآن مجید میں بھی متعدد مقامات پر کیا گیا ہے جہاں اللہ تعالیٰ انہیں فرعون کے ظالمانہ اقدام سے نجات دینے کے احسان کی یاد دلاتا ہے جو ان کے نوزائیدہ لڑکوں کو ذبح کر دیتا تھا۔
اللہ کا منصوبہ اور فرعون کی تباہی۔
وہ وقت آیا جب بنی اسرائیل کو فرعون اور اس کے لشکر سے نجات ملنی تھی۔ ان کی کمزور ترین پوزیشن کے بعد، اللہ نے انہیں عطا کیا جیسا کہ اس نے قبطیوں کے خاتمے کے بعد ان کی بالادستی کا ارادہ کیا۔ اس طرح اللہ کا وعدہ پورا ہو جائے گا کیونکہ وہ نیک لوگوں کو زمین ورثے میں دیتا ہے۔
فرعون کے اقتدار کا خاتمہ اپنے ہاتھوں سے ثابت ہوا! موسیٰ محل تک پہنچے اور فرعون نے خود اسے اپنا مستقبل دشمن بنا کر کھڑا کیا جو فرعون کی جھوٹی طاقت کو ختم کر دے گا، جو حکومت کے خاتمے کے خوف سے ہر لڑکے کو ذبح کر دیتا تھا۔ امام طبری لکھتے ہیں کہ فرعون نے حکم دیا تھا کہ لڑکوں کو ایک سال ذبح کر کے دوسرے سال زندہ چھوڑ دیا جائے۔ جب موسیٰ کی والدہ کو معلوم ہوا کہ اس سال ان کی ولادت ہوئی جس سال لڑکوں کو ذبح کیا جانا تھا تو وہ اس کے لیے خوف محسوس کرنے لگیں۔ [3]
جیسا کہ سورہ قصص آیت نمبر 7 میں ہے:
“اور ہم نے موسیٰ کی ماں کو وحی کی کہ اسے دودھ پلاؤ، پھر جب تمہیں اس کے بارے میں خوف ہو تو اسے دریا میں ڈال دو اور نہ ڈرو اور نہ غم کرو، ہم اسے تمہاری طرف لوٹا دیں گے اور اسے رسولوں میں سے بنائیں گے۔”
موسیٰ کی اپنے دشمن کے گھر میں پرورش
جب موسیٰ کی ماں نے اسے دریا میں ڈالا تو اس کی بہن دریا کے کنارے سے گزر رہی تھی کہ اس کے ساتھ کیا سلوک ہوا۔ اللہ تعالیٰ نے فرعون کی طاقت کو ختم کرنا تھا، موسیٰ سیدھے مقام پر پہنچے اور فرعون کی بیوی آسیہ نے اس خوبصورت بچے کو اٹھایا اور کہا: “وہ میری اور تمہاری آنکھوں کی ٹھنڈک ہے۔” فرعون نے جواب دیا: “تمہارے لیے مجھے اس کی کوئی ضرورت نہیں ہے”، نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ اگر وہ وہی کہتا جیسا کہ اس کی بیوی نے کہا تھا تو اسے اپنی بیوی کی طرح ہدایت دیتا لیکن اس نے اس پر اسے حرام کر دیا ہے۔ [4]
فرعون نے ڈر کے مارے لڑکے کو قتل کرنا چاہا لیکن اس کی بیوی نے اسے زندہ چھوڑنے پر اصرار کیا اور بیٹا بھی۔ دوسری طرف موسیٰ کی والدہ صرف اپنے بیٹے کے بارے میں سوچ رہی تھیں، قریب تھا کہ وہ راز فاش کر دیتی لیکن اللہ تعالیٰ نے ان کا دل مضبوط کر دیا۔
موسیٰ کا اپنی والدہ کے پاس واپسی
اللہ تعالیٰ نے حضرت موسیٰ علیہ السلام کو گیلی نرسوں کو قبول کرنے سے منع کیا تو ان کی بہن جس نے تمام مناظر دیکھے، کہا کہ میں تمہیں ایک ایسے گھر کی طرف لے جاؤں گی جو اس کی دیکھ بھال کرے گا اور اس کے لیے مخلص ہو گا۔
جھگڑا ختم کرنے پر سزائے موت
وقت گزرتا گیا اور موسیٰ جوان ہوئے، اللہ نے انہیں حکمت اور علم عطا کیا۔ ایک دن وہ شہر میں داخل ہوا اور وہاں دو آدمیوں کو لڑتے ہوئے پایا: ایک بنی اسرائیل سے اور دوسرا اس کے دشمنوں سے۔ اس کے گروہ کے شخص نے دوسرے کے خلاف مدد کے لیے پکارا تو اس نے اسے مارا اور غیر ارادی طور پر اسے قتل کردیا۔
بد قسمتی سے اگلے دن بنی اسرائیل کی ایک اور شخص سے لڑائی ہوئی، موسیٰ علیہ السلام نے ایسا ہی ہونا تھا اور اس شخص کو ایک بار پھر مدد کے لیے پکارتے ہوئے پایا۔ موسیٰ علیہ السلام نے اس سے کہا، ’’بے شک تم بدعتی ہو‘‘۔ پھر اس نے قبطی پر حملہ کرنے کا عزم کیا، لیکن بنی اسرائیل نے اس کی کمزوری اور ذلت کی وجہ سے یقین کیا کہ اب موسیٰ اسے قتل کرنے کا ارادہ رکھتے ہیں۔ [5]
